Default Section/Page Number in Word 2013

I have a very large (approx 700 pages) document that has been split into multiple sections with section breaks. Each Section has page numbers set up as Page Number of Section Numbers (each section starts back at 1).

I am finding that on the last page of some sections (ones that don’t have any more than four lines) the last page number says Page 2 of 8 (or however many pages are in that section) but as soon as the page has 5 lines on it the page/section numbers are fine.

I'm not quite clear. Do you mean that in all of these sections the last page says page 2 of (x) -- it's always 2, rather than, for instance, 8 of 8 or 5 of 5?

It is a known issue, especially in some older versions of Word, that the "x" and/or "y" part in "Page x of y" may not work properly; see the article at

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/PageXofY.htm.

However, the issue discussed in the article refers to the total page count, where "y" is the NUMPAGES field. In your document, you are using SECTIONPAGES for "y." (You can verify that by displaying field codes; use Alt+F9 as a toggle.) It is still worth testing the workarounds mentioned in the article.

To clarify, each section has different text in. The sections that I am having the issue with are the ones that only have 4 lines of text on the last page, they are saying 2 of 8 or 2 of 17 as opposed to 8 of 8 or 17 of 17.

If I do a hard return to bring the line count on that last page to 5 lines or more it will correct itself to 8 of 8 or 17 of 17.

I hope this makes more sense.
