Default Office File Converter (OFC.exe) - good for Word 2003 to Word 2013 conversion?

I want to automate conversion of Word 2003 doc files to Word 2013 docx files.

I see Office Migration Planning Manager (OMPM)'s OFC.exe works with Office 2010.

Is OFC.exe fully compatible with Office 2013; if so, how do I use it?

Word 2013 will open Word 2003 files, so there is no great need to convert them (if they don't open, check your file block settings). Converting them can produce formatting anomalies. However if you feel you must convert them, http://www.gmayor.com/document_batch_processes.htm will do the job (subject to the same potential file block issue).

I am not familiar with OFC.exe but suspect that it will produce Word 2010 or 2007 .docx files rather than Word 2013 files, so they would still open in compatibility mode.

I'm not sure of the reason you need to convert, but join in the recommendation to use Graham's batch processor if you need to do it.

Default Excellent Tool - many Thanks

I want to convert 2003 docs to 2013 docs now because I want any conversion anomalies to appear now, rather than later when documents are longer and maybe I have to convert.

Thanks to both of you (mostly to Graham, of course) for the introduction to Graham Mayor's Batch Processor.

This looks like an excellent tool.
It will take me a while fully to savour the possibilities opened.

Default To Graham Mayor - Your Word Add-In Suite - Information request

To Graham Mayor,

You may be wondering why I have not downloaded your Add-In yet.
I urgently need to get a set of notes files up and running.
Your Word Add-In suite looks beautiful, yet it may take me a couple of days to learn how to use it.
I want to complete the other tasks first.

Information Request

I want to...
- Convert Word 2003 files in a branch of folders to Word 2013 format.
- Revise Hyperlink references in converted files from "doc" to "docx".
- Verify all Hyperlinks.
- Move some files within the folder branch and revise Hyperlink references from many files to their new locations.

I had a bad night last night trying to effect this on only a small file set manually.
Will your Add-In help me with some of this?
In particular, will it Search and Replace HyperLink target fields in multiple files to Headers in other Word files?
That would make a task which previously seemed impossible possible. (Is this an Oxymoron?)

Thanks,

Richard Davey
