I am getting a double symbol when I hit the dash. How do I rerun to a single dash? |

See if there is an AutoCorrect entry to replace a dash with whatever symbol you are seeing instead.
To display the list of AutoCorrect entries: Click the AutoCorrect Options button at File tab | Options | Proofing. In the dialog box, click the AutoCorrect tab.
