Word 2007 - saving as PDF - letters messed up
Hello!
I'm still using MS Word 2007 and when I save a document as a PDF file all the letters get a bit dislocated, messy, ugly to see and hard to read. I don't save any pictures, text only, and it's still messy. Anyone else ever experienced anything like that? Is it fixable? I don't want to use an external DOC to PDF program, I'd like Word to properly save into PDF format. Thank you! |

Which font / size?
I wouldn't expect a really quick response. Answers here are posted by volunteers. In the USA it is the beginning of a three-day holiday weekend. |

Times New Roman / 12. I tried with Arial 11 and that didn't help either.
I understand, well, I'll wait. |

Suggestion:
Put together a small sample document that causes the problem and the resulting pdf in a zip file and attach it here. |

Good idea, here it is, in the zip file, a pdf with one page of text, the font is Times New Roman, size is 12. See how the letters are too far apart and too close at certain points - that is the problem.

There is certainly a problem visible in your version, but it is not a problem inherent in the Office PDF tool available with Office 2007 and I have been unable to recreate the problem here - see attached
What does it look like in Print Preview (before creating the PDF)? Word is a slave to the printer driver and it may be that which is causing the anomaly.

Yes, your PDF looks fine here too. When I try the print preview everything still looks alright. I have no clue what the problem is.

For me to tell you any more (and I may not be able to do so) I would want to see the original Word document as well as the pdf that results.

I have attached them both, the DOCX file looks as it should and the PDF is messed up.

Do you have the same problem in Safe Mode? If so, all I can suggest is repairing your Word installation.
When I save your file as pdf, in Word 2007, I don't have the problem you are seeing. |

Yes, I've just tried saving to a PDF in safe mode and it's all the same.
Anyway, thank you (both) for helping me, I won't go repairing my Office installation now, I'll just use the online DOC2PDF converter for now. |

I recall Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 being available for free from Adobe as a download. You might want to search the web for information. That would give you another avenue. If you find it, you might want to post a link here.
