Default Background header image

I have created a series of templates in Word 2013. Character styles are all set up and working (finally). I am having an issue with a background image I have inserted in the background header. When my test users try out the templates they experience a similar issue. The issue is when they do a select all then delete the background image also gets deleted. How can I prevent this from happening? I have tried locking it in position but am wondering if there are any other options? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect you have multiple sections. When you select all, you are selecting the section break that contains the header information. For this to be true, the header in the last section would not be linked to previous and would not contain your image.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for your response!

You are correct in regards to using multiple sections. I have removed the link to previous in the last section but it still deletes. I feel as though perhaps I have missed a step and this is why this problem occurs. Any ideas how I could go about setting it up without this problem occurring? Thanks!

I could do it in two minutes but I can't explain it better than I have. Sorry.

It sounds as though the background image is not in the header view but in the main document.

I am also unsure why the users would need to select all and delete. If they are doing this as a matter of course then there is something wrong with the way they are using the template - perhaps re-cycling an existing document with text. If this is the case save the template as a template and instruct users to create new documents from it.
