Default Does Word have Autonumber Format (like in FrameMaker)?

I am converting documents from FrameMaker into Microsoft Word. There is a paragraph format used in FrameMaker called Note where it inserts the word "Note:" (in bold) followed by a space where you write your text. In the FrameMaker settings, it is called Autonumber Format.

Is the same, or similar, functionality available in Word? If so, what is it called?

Thanks

Default Building Block?

I may have found the answer. Would I use a building block?

That could work. Specifically, AutoText.

As an alternative, you could create a caption label and make use of it. (To define the label, click the Numbering button in the References | Insert Caption dialog box.)

Dealing with exactly the same issue, though luckily as a one-off, I vaguely remember persuading some not-too-obscure word processor to accept a style definition that used a text prefix instead of a bullet: but so long ago I can't remember the details. Could this have been Word, or am I thinking of some other program?

You mean a "numbered" or "bulleted" list which isn't actually numbered? Yes, you can create one, but it must be a list of the multilevel type. Apply the style that you want to use. Then click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List. Make use of level 1. Type in static text and remove the number. Adjust other settings, such as indents, if you wish. When you are done, click OK. Update the style via the Styles pane (shouldn't be necessary but do it just in case).
