A watermark is essentially a (usually washed out) graphic set behind the text. The Word watermark tool inserts the same graphic throughout, but you can manually insert the graphic either on the required page or in the required section headers manually and set its layout property to behind text.

Make sure that the graphical element (perhaps WordArt) has wrapping/positioning set to behind text. As Graham stated, for a single page, just put it behind the text on the page, anchored to a (heading?) paragraph. For multiple pages in a Section, put it in the page while editing the header(s) for that section.

hi
Thank both of you. I know what Watermark is. My exact question is that Watermark can not be inserted in several sections differently. When I insert Watermark for an especial section, it will be inserted for whole documents and sections, NOT just that section. I want to insert several Watermarks for several sections in a document. Is it Possible? Meanwhile I work with ms-Word 2007. Mohsen |

As I said - if you use the watermark tool in Word, it will insert the watermark throughout the document. You must insert the watermark graphics manually in the individual section headers. If the watermark is repeating throughout the headers then you have the section headers linked. Uncheck 'Link to Previous' in the Header Tools ribbon.

I doubled click on Header of a page (as attached photo shows), Unchecked 'Link to Previous', selected 'Watermark' from 'page layout' tab and selected a picture. After it, what I saw is that picture has inserted into whole document, not just on the especial section. What was my problem? Mohsen |

As I said twice already, the watermark tool inserts the graphic in ALL sections. You must insert the graphic MANUALLY! ie. Insert > Picture (or Insert Word Art for a text watermark).
To make it easier, insert the watermark as you have been doing, select the graphic, then cut it to the clipboard. You can then unlink the headers and paste it in each section header as required. Save it as an autotext entry for ease of reinsertion.
