Default Formatting issue with Bibliography

Hi All

I am using the Insert Bibliography facility within Word 2010 and can't get the numbering for "[10]" and above to display properly. The (first) column width (the bibliography is evidently created as a table) is too narrow, so half the the reference number (0]) appears on the line below, which looks very odd.

Manual adjustment of the table column width ('move table column' in the Ruler tool) does work, but the "word-wrap" function for the text is then lost (some of the words in the reference text are not displayed). If I then highlight the whole table and do 'Autofit to Contents' the missing text re-appears, but the first column width reverts to it default state!

Highlighting the table and reducing the font size doesn't work either (I was getting desperate!) and this only reduces the size of the text, not the associated reference numbers.

Finally, I tried some manual reformatting after using 'Convert Bibliography to Static Text', but without much success.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated. I could attach the Reference list (table) if that helps.

Regards, Phil

Thanks to those who had a look at this. It is now fixed, after quite a bit of trial-and-error (manual adjustment of the margins and columns). The problem is that I would have to go through the same process again (which is quite fiddly) if I did Update Field.

In summary, the Insert Bibliography formatting only seems to work properly when there are less than 10 references (i.e. when the reference number format is [x]). I have over a hundred, and it won't cope with [xxx], or even [xx].

Regards, Phil
