Word cutting top and bottom of page when printing
Hello all,
For some reason, out of the blue, word has started cutting off the top and bottom of every document I print. (Which it hasn't ever done in the past) I'm really struggling as to why this is happening! I tried fiddling around with margins, boarders etc. But have had no luck fixing the problem. When I insert a picture into a word document I place it right at the very top of the page and the same at the bottom. When I then go into print preview or just print the document itself part of the picture will be cut off. I've previously done this on many occasions with word and usually it leaves white space around the edge of the paper before the edge but still maintains the whole picture without cutting any part of it off. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Whether you can print to the edge of the paper depends on the printer driver. Most printers have a nonprinting area.

The reason it has me so confused is that it's done it without me changing any settings, margins or boarders etc. |

In my experience, Word has never worked that way. For me, every version of Word has failed to print any content placed in the non-printing area of the page.
On the other hand, if I convert the Word document to a PDF, the output can go right to the edge of the page and when I output the PDF to a printer, there is a checkbox in the print dialog that allows me to scale the entire page to the printable area. This checkbox is usually on be default so pages scale down to fit the printable area unless I specifically uncheck it.

I thought of printing the document as a PDF and when I did, it printed as shown on the page without cutting any part of the picture off. Although still adding white space around the document when on paper. I guess it's just one of the whose things, I'll just have to leave it if there's no logical reasoning for it. |

Within Word, the only option that comes to mind is “Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11"” (File | Options | Advanced) but it doesn't appear to be relevant here.
Have you changed printers recently? Or are you using an updated driver which may support (slightly) different options?

I do wonder if it's a printer setting that may have changed because there are 2 PC's 1 laptop and 1 tablet connected to the printer, and they are all now printing differently to what they used to do. If something has changed I can't for the life of me find what it is. |

It could be that the printer driver was changed, without necessarily any notice. Check with the printer manufacturer.
