Word 2010 doesn't open HTML-files properly
I'm trying to fix a problem like this:
If I open a simple html-file HTML Code:
<html> <head> </head> <body> Test input <input type="text" size=10> </body> </html> When I check "Show field codes" it shows - see attachment 2. There are computers with similar configuration in our office which have not such problem (we use virtual computers with Windows 7 and Office 2010). I've read all I can find about HTML and Word but can't find a decision. All first-level settings in Options for "good" and "bad" computers are identical (especially in Advanced section). I've tried also to copy normal.dotm from "good" computer with no positive results. Any suggestions? |

Your version of Word has imported the HTML by parsing it and converted the content into a 'Word version' of the content.
Using Word to edit HTML directly is a lesson in pointlessness but you can get Word to open all the content so you see all the html tags by opening Word first and then using File > Open and changing the file type to "Recover Text from any file" and then opening the file. If you make any edits, you will need to save the document as 'text only' to avoid the content being converted into a non-raw-html format.

I agree :-) But the origin of the problem is pasting content from web-site into Word document. Obviously during "parsing and converted the content into a 'Word version' of the content" Word ignores input fields (in my case) so I'm trying to find why and what I have to change on "bad" computers in order to paste content as it does on "good" computers. I've compared so far all Trust Center settings - no difference. There are some inactive Add-ins on "bad" computers but they are related to Document Inspector. May by this is a security related problem (from Word's point of view) as if I inspect the simple html-page from my first post using Document Inspector I'm getting a warning - see attachment 1. On "good" computers Word opens the test html-file as shown in attachment 2. |
