Default Shortcuts

Alt+H displays/selects the Home tab in the ribbon. The letters you are seeing are further shortcuts to the items on that tab. For example, pressing FS will then activate the Font Size field, that is, you can use the arrow keys up and down to raise or lower the font size.

Each Tab has a letter. Alt+N will select the Insert tab and display the shortcuts on that tab.
