Default Equation Editor Problems

Hi everyone,

I've been trying desperately to find an answer to my problems but no one has been able to help me. I have a problem with equations not showing properly, I can see the numbers but instead of greek letters and +/- etc I get weird characters. This means that any time I go to download lecture notes, I cannot see any of the equations that I need, and whats more, I have an assignment which I need to download and edit. I am certain that I have equation editor installed as I am able to create equations in my own documents, but the equation editor button is greyed out when I open lecture notes. I did get a message that my equation editor was out of date but I cannot find and upgrade and I am fairly sure I have installed all the latest update for MS Office (I use 2007 and run xp pro).

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
