I am laptop shopping. I tried 2 models I like yesterday but on both of them when I was in Word and tried typing, the cursor kept skipping from one part of the line to another, or to a different line.

I had this occasionally in my old laptop after I typed a Y. Yesterday it was happening way more often on two different laptops, an Asus and an HP after many different letters, U . . .T others.

. I looked up the default Word shortcuts but they all involve hitting Ctrl or Alt key and I wasn't doing that. Any idea what's going on?
