Default Find and Replace - symbols

I have chosen to assign key "Ctrl+ D" to the degrees symbol.

When I type this combination in a word document, all is fine as the symbol appears correctly.
However, when I try to paste "Ctrl+D" in either Find or Replace, nothing appears in the "find what" or "replace with" box.
Can anyone suggest what is wrong please

Default Find and Replace - symbols

Repeated plea for help, as no responses received to my earlier question.

How do I enter the degrees symbol °in Find and Replace. My shortcut combination ( Ctrl-d ) works well in a Word document, but not in Find and Replace.

I have no trouble with entering the copyright symbol ©, using my shortcut of Ctrl-c, so is the degree symbol simply not possible?

Default Degree

I assume you consciously changed your copy command to the copyright, unless you meant Alt+Ctrl+C, which is the default copyright symbol in later versions of Word. In any case, how about creating an Autotext for the degree symbol? Type the symbol and copy it, open Autocorrect options, choose something like dg/ for your shortcut and type it into Replace box, and paste the symbol into the Replace With box.

Or, turn your keyboard NumLock on and type 0176 to get the symbol. (I find that cumbersome.)

Ulodesk: thank you for your suggestion. I have now set up dg/ as the combination to be replaced by the degree symbol, and this works in the normal Word document. Sadly though it does not work in find and replace, where it just remains as dg/. I really think my earlier version does prohibit me from doing this.

Copy the symbol from the word document to the clipboard and paste it to the find (and replace) box.
