Saving Word doc to PDF without borders
I'm having trouble saving my Word doc as a PDF (Mac Office 2011). The document itself has an edge-to-edge image as the background, only when I go to save it as a PDF, it "crops" about a .5" border on all sides making a white band on the edge of my document that should be all color. As I'm not actually printing anything yet, I can't adjust the printer settings as many other forums have suggested. I've tried adjusting the document border settings to 0 on all edges, but I still get a border. What am I doing wrong? |

You are doing nothing wrong. Word formats documents to the active printer driver and although I am a Windows user, I suspect the Mac version is the same.
The vast majority of printers do not allow printing to the edge of the page and the result is therefore a border that reflects the limits of the driver's capabilities. It is for this reason that you have read suggestions to set a PDF driver as the active driver. I don't have access to the Mac version, so cannot comment on specifics relating to that version, but you may be able to find suitable software at http://alternativeto.net/software/pr.../?platform=mac

Actually, all you should need to do is to activate a driver for any printer than can do full-page bleeds and supports your paper size. Photo printers often have this capability.

I know this is pretty late, but I just wanted to thank you macropod and gmayor for your help! It was driving me crazy that I couldn't figure it out.
Between your two comments, I was able to figure out that I had to A). create a custom defualt print size (that's in the dropdown menu with A4, US Letter, US Legal, etc.) with no margins and B). select the "any printer" dropdown in order to be able to select my custom size. Worked like a charm! Thanks again! |
