Help!

MS Office is getting too smart for its own good IMO.

I cant open Word documents attached to emails. When selected the opening banner appears advising the doc is opening in protected view but it never opens, just hangs.

Went to Word/File/Options/Trust Centre/Trust Centre Settings/Protected View and unticked the 3 boxes on the right pane. Then selected Ok and Ok. Restarted my laptop.

The document attached to the email still does not open and goes through the same process of trying to open in protected view and simply hangs.

What is happening and how do I stop this infernal machine dictating to me how I use it?

Grateful for any help.
