Default How to create shading in form fields using developer

Hi All

A newbie to the forum. I have been reading a lot recently on how to do more with microsoft word and am currently trying to create documents using fillable forms with the developer tool that I have just semi taught myself how to use.

One thing I am stuck on is once you have created a form field how do I format it so that when you look at the form all the form fields are shown in a colour say grey so its easy to see what needs filled out?

I hope this makes sense and would be grateful for any assistance.

Thanks in advance

Is this "Filling in forms" protection using legacy form fields? In that case, on the Developer tab, click the Legacy Tools button, and then click Form Field Shading.

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for prompt reply, yes I can see that box you mentioned however when I use it the text still stays grey when you type in required text, i only want it to stay grey before people type in their own text, just so it draws people attention to the required fields. Think I am maybe using developer wrong.

These are generally user options rather than something you can set in a document.

When you have a document protected for forms, the tab key will take the person to the next field. You need to let your users know this.
;
Also, look into a more complex and flexible option: the UserForm (a custom dialog box).
