Default Files Always Open with Simple Markup

I am using Word 2013 (Office 365). I used Simple Markup briefly on one of my files, but later changed it back to Original before I saved it. Now that file always opens with Simple Markup. Further, when I open a new Word document, it opens with Simple Markup.

I have closed all the files; opened normal.dotm, changed it from Simple Markup to Original, and saved it. However I can immediately open normal.dotm after doing that and it will show Simple Markup. How do I get this nuisance to go away?

Thanks!

Dale

If you want to force "Original" for all documents, you can add the following macros to your Normal template:

Code:
Sub AutoOpen()
    With ActiveWindow.View.RevisionsFilter
        .Markup = wdRevisionsMarkupNone
        .View = wdRevisionsViewOriginal
    End With
End Sub

Sub AutoNew()
    With ActiveWindow.View.RevisionsFilter
        .Markup = wdRevisionsMarkupNone
        .View = wdRevisionsViewOriginal
    End With
End Sub
For assistance with the installation, see http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm.

It is always inexplicable why Microsoft does such things, but what you've provided seems to have resolved the problem.

Many thanks, Stefan!

I'm glad I could help. Thanks for the follow-up.

For what it's worth, it seems as the only options you are allowed to set as the default are "All Markup" or "Simple Markup" (and there have been several reports in the Microsoft Community where that doesn't work either).
