![]() I am experiencing an odd bug in the bibliography created with Word. With multiple sources by a single author, I sometimes get the author's name restated, and sometimes replaced with a line. I cannot seem to find a method to the madness. See attached and compare, for instance, the way multiple sources by Adorno, Cherlin and Auner are cited, as opposed to those by Brown, Schoenberg and HaCohen. Would appreciate advice! |

At least part of your problem is that you have duplicate bibliography entries. Check in 'Manage Sources' and you'll see them. For example:
Adorno, Theodor W., Towards an Understanding of Schoenberg is listed twice, one tagged as 'Ado02', the other tagged as 'Placeholder1'. You will need to delete one of these, but you can't do so if it's cited - you'll have to change the citation to point to the other one first. As for the underscore, that's standard practice for the Chicago referencing system, which is what you're using, when two or more publications by the same author are cited. Your source entries also have other inconsistencies, including double quotes around Schoenberg's "A Four-Point Program for Jewry" title. You'll need to ensure all the entries are input consistently and correctly.

Thanks for looking into it. I have done that (and will tidy up the references too), but it does not make a difference. I still get Adorno repeated, with no underscores.
Any ideas? |

That may be how Chicago references work when you're citing sections by contributors to larger works by different editors. I'm not really familiar with these intricacies. It may also be due to some form of corruption in the references themselves...

Thanks. I have corrected and combed through the entries and I still get inconsistencies. It must be the result of something in the references themselves, because the underscoring changes whenever I make a change in the sources.
Oh well. Will correct it manually... Attaching an updated file in case anyone has any ideas. Thanks for your help. |
