Default Word 2011 Mac: autoconvert "2015" to "two thousand and fifteen?"

I'm designing a template for a diploma and would like to know if there's a way for me to make it so that if I type in 2015, Word automatically replaces it with two thousand and fiften, or if I type in 2016, Word writes "two thousand and sixteen."

You could do that via a Word field or a macro, but not via any automatic built-in process.

The field-based approach would be to:
• press Cmd-F9 to create an empty field
• type '=2015 \* CardText' between the field braces, thus: {=2015 \* CardText}
• press F9 to update the field.
You would then see 'two thousand fifteen' - note the lack of 'and'. More sophisticated approaches that allow you to input 2015 into an existing field and have it display 'two thousand and fifteen' are also possible.

There are numerous macro-based solutions for converting numbers to text on the web.

You could also add these specific terms as Autocorrect entries. Since you are not trying to think longer term than two years a simple solution like autocorrect might be adequate.

The following field will spell out the year a document is created.
{ CREATEDATE \@ "YYYY" \* cardtext \* caps }

The following field will spell out the current year.
{ DATE \@ "YYYY" \* cardtext \* caps }

Two Thousand Fifteen

Note the braces are inserted using Ctrl+F9 (Command+F9), not typed.

Using Date Fields in Microsoft Word

Using date fields in your template means you don't type the date. Word calculates it when you open or create the document based on the template.
