If all you want to do is replace every instance of 'handsome mistaken' with '<r>handsome mistaken</r>', that could be done via Find/Replace.
If you want to be able to select some text, then apply the <r> & </r> tags, that could be done via a macro to which you could assign a keyboard shortcut.
