Default How can I let my users copy and paste into a protected Word Document?

Hello everyone,
Is there any way I can protect only certain areas of a Word document 2010and not others? I want the users to be able to fill-out the text fields and check boxes but, I also want them to be able to paste pictures into another section as they see fit. Can Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Matt

If you're using forms protection, you can insert Section breaks either side of the area you want to leave unprotected, then exclude that Section from the forms protection - the option to do so becomes available when protecting a multi-Section document. For an example of this, see: https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...html#post28556

That said, it's also not possible to edit images in a document using forms protection. What you can do, however, insert the image into a separate (unprotected) document, do your editing there, then cut & paste the image into your 'form' document. Alternatively, you can use a separate (unprotected) document that's linked to your form via an INCLUDETEXT field as a holder for the drawing object and picture. Your users will be able to freely edit that document and, if you check the 'update automatic links at open' option under Word Options|Advanced > General, any changes to the 'picture' document should automatically be reflected in the form document.

Wait.....I still have an issue. I'm having trouble getting the form to do both (allow me to protect one section and not the other). Now it is letting me copy and paste but, my text boxes and check boxes no longer work. I inserted a few different sections but, I don't see the option to let me only protect certain sections. What am I doing wrong?

When you go to Developer>Restrict Editing and choose the 'Filling in Forms' option, immediately below that, 'Select Sections' will appear. Simply click on that and uncheck whichever Section(s) you want to leave unprotected.
