Default Problem with OLE link in Word

Hello everyone:-)

I`m in big trouble with my Ms Word 2013. I would like to use Excel data in my Word document. I know how to make a link for each excel cel, but i see trouble in using links. If I prepare links, then save Word document and open this document again link do not work at all. I can find them, but if something will be change in excel sheet, it does not appear in word document. I should have statement in word while document is opening, that OLE links where made or something like this...

I have no idea how to figure it out.

Anyone can help?

I'm not sure I understand the problem.

But I am using OLE links in Word to link to Excel content here in our office, and things work fine..... to a point. But if your worried about adding rows/columns in excel and the links no longer pointing to the correct cell content. Start using Named Ranges in Excel.

The information linked to Excel can be updated automatically if you have those settings enabled in word. In the Options, Advance settings, look under General and ensure 'Update Automatic Links at Open' is checked. Also make sure your links themselves are set to automatically update. With your Word file open, look under File then choose 'Edit Links to File' and ensure they are set to automatic.

Now my own word of caution, and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong or knows of a better solution.....

When you save a file under the new .docx format, Word looks to the Excel document, and will open and close the excel file for each link it finds. This is grossly annoying and can have Word take up to 5 minutes to open a file if its linking to many items/ranges in Excel.

A work around is to save your work in the older 2003 .doc format. Now word will only open the excel file once for all those links. If you really do need to save it in the docx format and to speed things up first open your excel workbook. Then open Word, and then open the docx file.

Your advises are perfect:-) I`ve saved file in word 2003 format and know it seems that links work. But... I have one thing more to ask You. I have opened wodr file with prepared links and excel file. If I made changes in excel file these changes do not appear in Word automatically However I have 'Update Automatic Links at Open' enabled.

EDIT: My root Excel file is XLSM (with prepared form made in VBA). If I made simple XLSM file (without VBA things) changing data in word file is made automatically...
