Default Border Special Character

Is there a way to change a border to a special character?

I want the top line to be a line, as well as the bottom line. No problem there of course.

But I want the right line to be a special character, specifically in my case, the character:

)

These are for legal documents and the court requires the ) as the vertical line on all motions.

This was great for back in the day using a typewriter. Not so good trying to do it with a WP.

Here is a link to a process that I used not too long ago that may help you: http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/BorderArt.htm. It goes through all four borders, but if you are only concerned with one border, it would suffice there as well.

Hope this helps...

What you are talking about is not really a border but a vertical line of right parenthesesn in a caption. A caption should really be a borderless Table. You can have one narrow cell in the table that simply holds the parentheses.

I think my idea is best! Maybe in a future development!

Regardless, I took your suggestion and just added a center column to accomplish my goal. Matches the court sample perfectly!

This is not really a solution. The advantage of a table cell is that the height automatically changes every time you hit Enter. With a narrow center cell to hold the ")" you have to manually key in every paren.

The prior post had it right. Figure out a way to have a ")" as the right border art.

If you want to do it without a table, you can put a decimal tab setting where you want the ) character and tab and type it. This gets very messy when you try editing, though.
