Default Microsoft Word doesn't scroll with my typing like I'd want

Hello,

I have just installed Microsoft Word 2013 after many years without Word on my computer. I am going to be getting back into transcription work and have encountered an annoying problem with my version of the software:

When I get to the bottom of a page, Microsoft Word will only auto scroll two lines for me. Thus I am always typing at the very bottom of the document with 1-2 lines of space below me. I don't remember Microsoft Word being like this! Ideally I would have Word keep half the page open below me and scroll with me as I type. As it is now, I have to manually scroll down half a page or so, type for awhile, and then manually scroll again when I get smooshed at the bottom.

I'm surprised I haven't found anyone else online with this problem. Any ideas?

Probably because it is not a problem to anyone else. AFAIK, Word is designed to function that way.

I do have vague memories (but then I have seen a few versions come and go) of setting the focus to halfway up the screen, and finding it helpful. Given the number of options Word already includes for things I would never want to do, it would be nice to find an option that did help … :-}

Word has always scrolled only to the bottom of the active window as you type. If you want the scrolling to occur higher up the screen, your only options are to use the split screen view or adjust Word's window size.

Default Unresolved? Ridiculous.

I am shocked that this problem is not mentioned by many on the Internet, except by you... 8 years ago! I am completing a transcription now and what a problem it is!

I will try to find a resolution today and will post back. But I had to put in my two cents...

The VBA solution by AshtrayGangsta on this thread appears to work
cursor - MS Word - Scroll document at the middle of the page? - Super User
