Default Omit header info from last page

I'm hoping someone can get back to be quickly, I need to submit a document today... I am working with in a Word 2013 (365) document and I have my page number going correctly, but I have an "About Author" page at the end that should not have a page number or any header info. I've tried everything I can think of or find by searching. I've created a "section break" and it restarts the paging system, but if I remove the info on the last page it still removes it throughout the document. How can I stop the page number before the last page?

You need to put your header text inside of an IF Field that tests for the last page.

{ IF { Page } < { NumPages } "header" }

"header" in the example above is whatever you want in the header including your Page field. Note braces {} must be inserted using Ctrl+F9, not by typing.

See How to control the page numbering in a Word document.

Hmmm, well thanks, no idea what an IF Field is, maybe I'll play with that... what I found is that annoyingly there are two "break" commands, one in the "insert" menu and one in the "page layout" menu... you have to use the one in the page layout menu to get the option for a section break. Once you have created the section break you have to make sure the "link to previous" is unchecked, a step I was unfamiliar with, once that section break is created, the header is selected and the "link to previous" is unchecked, you can eliminate the header information. Very non-intuitive process.

You can do it that way.
Header/Footer Settings Recap
It is structured but you are right it is non-intuitive.

The IF Field is worth learning.

Thanks, I bookmarked that site and will give it a look, can't know too much I guess... I just don't like to have to "code", that's why I buy software. But good to know. Guess I'll consider this closed for now, until Word trips me up again.
