Need help compressing a document
So I have a very large document, around 50 pages. I need to make it 40 pages, without getting rid of any of the content if possible.
I remember a doc back with 2003 that was 15 pages and I got it to 20 just by messing with the page margins, and it still looked good. This one, well I shrank the margins a fair bit and it only gave me 1 page extra which surprised me. Does Word 2007 have some extra programming to make it use whatever space it has or something? I managed to find the 'widow/orphan' control and turn that off, which helped a little bit. I was having troubles with half a paragraph jumping to the next page and leaving a big gap. It is still being very frustrating to work with though, especially near pictures. I try to drag them up a cm or two, and it throws them onto a different page. Big gaps appear at the bottom of pages when there is a pic at the top of the next page as the following paragraph after the pic refuses to use the space. Any suggestions on how I can subtly shrink it down a little bit and what to change? The only thing I need is 1.5 line spacing (could be 1.4 and get away with it, the only options I have found are multiples of 0.5 though) and times new roman 12 point font. Also the left margin needs to stay a reasonable size for binding. |
