Hello everyone

I'm line editing a short novel, about 57,000 words. I'm 90% of the way through. Typically as I've edited, the word count has changed so that when I closed out yesterday I had reduced the number of words by 15%, and the number of pages had expanded to account for tracked changes. The word and page count at the lower left-hand corner of the screen reflected the new word and page count. Suddenly today Word has decided that I don't need to know what the new word count is. It has reverted to the original word and page count, and I can't seem to get back to what was showing yesterday.



I don't remember doing anything differently than what I've been doing over the last several weeks. What changed?

BTW, I started working on the document again, and Word has kindly decided to resume tracking my word count, but only picking up from where I left off yesterday. Weird!

I desperately need help! The reason the word count changed is because my track changes disappeared. Anything I did prior to yesterday and today is gone, completely gone, 175 pages worth of work that took me weeks. Only the comments remain. I did not save the work I do every day in a separate document or on a flash drive, but now I realize that's a good practice. Everything was saved to the cloud using Dropbox, though, and perhaps they can retrieve the missing work for me.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi all

I am saved! I was able to recover previous versions of the document through Dropbox, resaved what I needed with new names, and will put everything back together tomorrow. Right now, I have a headache.
