Default Using calculated field - WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED?

I have exteensive experience in using complex calcualted fields and formulas in Excel and Access.

However, Word 2007 is too tough to crack.

I want a field to display

"Page number is: 2, page number multiplied by 5 is 10"

in plain field it should look something like:

{"Page number is: " & PAGE & ", page number multiplied by 5 is " & (PAGE*5)}

FOR WHATEVER REASON THAT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE TASK TO CRACK IN WORD. Very irritating.

Can anybody help?
