Hey, I wondered if there's a simple way to convert a line in a table-cell into a cell which fits the width of the cell it's in, and which doesn't affect the other columns in the table?



I know you can do the "convert text to table", but that doesn't make the width of the new cell fit into the cell it's inside dynamically

You could, but you can achieve the same visual result by applying vertical splits to the cell.

But I need to convert the line into a cell inside only that specific cell, isn't there a way to do this without splitting the whole cell in three and align it afterwards?

As I said, you could. You do so by selecting the line, then choosing Insert>Table>Convert Text to Table. Your line will become a nested table. Unless you've set the internal cell margins to 0 left & right, though, you're liable to find you new table has its own left & right borders displayed within the existing cell. And, even with that setting, you'll probably need to delete the new table's left & right borders so they don't make the outer table's border appear thicker at that point. Splitting the cell vertically and moving the components about requires less circumlocution.
