On the Ribbon's Insert tab, 'Insert Date and Time' vanished
Somehow, I don't know what I did, the option Insert > Date and Time vanished from the main Access strip..
By going to Word Options > Customize > Popular commands > Add to Quick Access bar I managed to get the Insert Data and Time onto the said quick Access bar. So, no actual problems. But I want to restore the data time thing to the Insert option on the main strip. It bugs me that I can't get it how I want it. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-19-2019 at 06:43 AM. Try renaming the Normal template Normal.dotm to NormalOld.dotm with Word closed.

Note, for future use: Jargon is important when doing Internet searches.
The strip at the top is called the "Ribbon." Things to be inserted are usually on the Insert "tab." Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-19-2019 at 07:38 AM. |

If you have time, would you mind sharing what you did to fix it. That could help future users of the forum.

Missing item from the ribbon on the top of a new Word docunent
Because I have a vast number of documents in my PC, each one has its address written in using a macro called prax(). I also frequently add dates to documents.
I don't know, now, what I did but on the ribbon the option INSERT > Date and Time went missing. The "Insert" was there but not the date and time option. Following Charles Kenyon's suggestion I went to my templates which are at C:\Documents and settings\(My Name)\Application data\Microsoft\templates and I renamed the existing Normal templates as NormalOld. I did not rub these out because I needed to recover the macro prax(). I then went to a folder and created a new document. This has the effect of creating a new Normal file which, by the way, has the Insert > date and time option there. Finally by opening NormalOld I could go Developer > Macros and copy the macro prax and paste it into my new Normal. ( I still don't know what I did to lose the Insert > Date and Time but what the hell ? It is all good again ) |
