Default How to stop "replace"'ing new words (in desperate need of advice)

How can I stop the "replace"'ing? When I had replaced the words I did in the first place, I was satisfied, and now I want the replace-function to stop, does anyone know how to stop it?

Ok, I solved it myself, just had to go to the left corner button, word options, etc..

Default Same problem

I too have this problem, but using tools, options, edit, then unticking 'typing replaces selection' doesn't solve it. Help please.

Hey tdrgg, as far as i see, "tools" isnt even in the menu in office 2007, if thats what youre using.

What fixed my problem was: click the "office button" in the top left corner, then click "word options", then choose the "proofing" tab, and then click "autocorrect options...". In there you can uncheck "Replace text as you type", or you can manually remove the correction you earlier added.

EDIT: I didnt see your last post werhe you wrote youre using word 2003. I cant help you then, sorry m8, and good luck

Hi bme081 and thanks for replying. You provided enough clues to get me to it after all. I searched autocorrect options and it had the tickbox for replace text as you type. Many thanks for that.
