I am using Building Blocks in Word 2007 to design boilerplate text that the intended audience can drop into a document, allowing them to build up a detailed document quickly and easily - a powerful feature.
These building blocks are initially saved via Insert menu > Text group > Quick Parts drop-down > Save Selection to Quick Part Gallery... However, and this is the reason for this post, once saved I have been unable to find any way to modfiy/update/edit these building blocks. The "Building Blocks Organizer" (Insert menu > Text group > Quick Parts drop-down) only allows me to change the name, description, gallery, etc, but not the building block content itself. To make any changes, I find myself having to paste the relevant "Quick Part" building block into my document (template), make changes, and then add it as a new item to the gallery as though I were creating a new building block, before deleting the previous one. It seems there is no way to modify/update a building block once it has been added to a gallery, unless anyone knows different... The way I am having to do it, at present, is laborious, time consuming and prone to error. shame, since it is a potentially very useful feture. Kindest regards, Ian |
