I created a basic labels sheet and I'm looking to insert pictures (pictures of barcodes) into each label.



What options do I have to do this? I'm guessing it's something with mail mergers..

It must be automated, as I have approximately 13,000 barcodes I'd like to get into labels.

I am a Word noob but a veteran programmer and can whip up some VBA or VB programs to help if that's the best option.

Why are you not creating the barcodes (using a barcode font) in the Word document directly (e.g. via mailmerge)?

I can get to the point where I'm using mail merge to import our list of 13,000ish numbers into labels. How do I convert them into barcodes though?

Assuming you're using a label merge and your data have already had whatever pre-processing might be required to get it into the barcode's syntax, it's as simple as applying that font to the mergefield. To do that:
• select the mergefield
• press shift-F9 to expose the field code, which should look like: {MEREGFIELD Barcode}
• add the CHARFORMAT switch to the field code, thus: {MEREGFIELD Barcode \* CHARFORMAT}
• Format the M in 'MEREGFIELD' with your barcode and whatever point size you want it to be
• Use the 'update labels' button to propagate the change to all labels
• run your mailmerge.
