Default Creating templates that ask for the users location

Hi everyone,

Whilst I can use word reasonably well I am totally lost when it comes to creating a template that is a bit smarter than than a basic one (which I can create). I an trying to create a template that when it starts it will ask the user "what is your location" and depending on the response the document will automatically insert the address at the top right hand side of the page.

I do understand a little about macros but not a great amount.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sandy

Hi Sandy. First off if you have a list of legitimate locations it is much better to present the user with that list. That way they select something. This avoids both possible spelling mistakes, and nknsense entries. What if someone entered "sgdhfuffb"? What would you do with that?

This could be done with a userform.

I assume you have some logical linkage between.possible location items and "addresses".

I also recommend the use of a userform. You can store the location in the template itself using a docvariable and read that back into the userform next time. The userform should also be used to collect the recipient etc data for writing to the document.
