Hyperlink object - change ctrl+click to click?
Hi all,
First time posting I have successfully made an object to link to a bookmark within the document but it insists on the person holding control before clicking on it. Is there a way to change this to a simple click of the mouse? Thanks |

Yes you can turn this setting off in the Word Options dialog box.
- Go to the Office button (top left corner) - Select Word Options - Click the Advanced tab - Un tick the checkbox for Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink - Click OK Just bare in mind this is a security feature and is meant to assist you with editing your documents and not accidentally clicking on hyperlinks. Hope this helps. |

Hi this woul be be great if it were just for me but when I send it to someone they open it with their Word settings with the same problem. What I'm really after is for this to work for other's when I email it to them. Is there a way to change it and seal it to the document??

The only way to achieve this, so that it would work for others when it is emailed, is possibly by creating a macro to perform this and embedding the macro in the document so that it runs on the persons computer but depending on who you are emailing this to you may find they will not allow a macro of this type to run on their computer because it is altering their computers settings.
Personally this setting is there as a security feature so trying to alter other people's computers to achieve this is a bit invasive and I would probably not recommend it. Users of the document should be able to decide if they want the Ctrl + click feature on or you can always put a note in the email of how to turn off this function should they choose to do so. |

I agree it seems pretty extreme for such a simple hyperlink change!
Is there a work around?? For instance links on text don't need a control+click to activiate. Is there anything else? Maybe something I could impose on top of the button? All it is is a process map with buttons on each section that links to segments of the document.. |

Not that you can do in Word.
If you really want to get rid of the need to press the ctrl key to click you could always save the document in HTML format and view it through a web browser. |
