Is it possible to get an improved thesaurus for MS word?
I constantly use the thesaurus function in Word, but seldom find the short and unimaginative set of suggestions it comes up with very useful. Any decent paper thesaurus (Roget, Oxford etc) or online resource (e.g. thesaurus.com) will produce a *much* fuller and more nuanced list, including not just straight synonyms but also a wide range of related terms with various shades of meaning. Is there any way to download some kind of app/plugin/whatever that will replace/supplement the built-in thesaurus with something more high-powered?
I have been trying to do this for *years*, so anyone who comes up with the goods will have my undying gratitude! [NB I have tried using free software from TheSage and WordWeb, and find them to be no great improvement on the built-in version. I have also tried searching Apps for Office (can't find anything) and using the Research Options>Add Services (won't integrate with any online thesaurus I know of)] |

Agreed, Thesaurus function could be improved
Office 2013 'define' functionality is useful enough when a word is selected the dictionary frame provides an updated response.
It would be great if the same applied to the Thesaurus frame in terms of updated response. Link to external sources could be provided with the frame. |
