Default Copying a part of a docx file as a separate file

Hi,

I've a document which is 100 page long.

I'm going to send it to somebody for a quick review, but he only needs the content from p.40 to p.70.

How do I just extract p.40 to p.70 as a separate file?

It has lots of graphics and textboxes so it'd be hard and easy to mess anything up by doing click and drag manually.

There is no header or footer in the document.

I came across a few posts of the same subject and found that they all talk about doing this by VBA macro. But isn't there any built-in function in normal word that can quickly create a new file from the original document by putting the corresponding page numbers in?

Thanks!

The simplest method I can think of is to make a copy of the document and delete the pages after 70 and then those before 40 from the document.

If your person needs to refer to things by page number, restart the page numbering in the new document to begin at page 40.

Word doesn't have much concept of pages, so you can't afaik tell it "delete pages 71 to 100". For large selections, though, F8 comes in handy. Try this: click at the start of the block you want to delete, press F8, scroll to the end of the block, click again. With a bit of luck, the whole block is now selected and Delete will, well, delete it.

But to delete everything before p.40 and after p.70 would also need using click and drag, I assume?

Or, if there is a quicker way?

I need only content of p.40 to p.70 so the file can be attached and sent over to him by his email. Otherwise, the whole document will be too large.

If you go to the bottom of page 70 and press Ctrl-Shift-End, Delete, everything after page 70 will be deleted.

Likewise, if you go to the top of page 40 and press Ctrl-Shift-Home, Delete, everything before page 40 will be deleted.

Those keyboard shortcuts are great - if you remember them.
