Portrait header/footer on landscape page
I am using Microsoft Office Professional 2003 in Windows 7 - 64 bit.
I have written a book with nearly 100% A4 portrait pages but it contains 2 No. A4 landscape pages in 2 separate sections because they contain Excel Tables too wide for a portrait page The header [subject title] and footer [page number] are currently at the top and bottom of the 2 pages viewed as landscape [i.e. appear as up the left and right hand side of the pages viewed as portrait. But I need to move the header and footer to the top and bottom of these two pages viewed as portrait [like all the other normal portrait pages] because the headers would be partly hidden by the binding when the book is printed. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could explain to me how to achieve this change? |

To do that, see: http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Format...apeSection.htm

Unlink the headers and footers in your landscape pages from those in the portrait pages. Cut the current header in a landscape section. In that section, in the body of the document, create a text box. Paste your header in the text box. Rotate the text box 90 degrees. Cut the text box and paste it into the header for that landscape section. Position it as you want. Remove borders if needed. See the screenshot below and the attached document. 2nd Question
Thanks for the answer.
I cannot rotate the text box. The option appears in the text box format options but cannot be activated...[it is in grey font]. Any idea what the problem is? |

Where in your document is the text box? When I rotated the one in the example, it was in the body of the document, not in the header. I do not know if this makes a difference or not.
The text may need to be rotated independently using the Tables and Borders toolbar button. You could simply make the textbox long and narrow instead of rotating it. |

Sorry, I did the example in Word 2010 which does allow rotation and then saved it in Word 2003 format.
Just make your text box the size you want your header in your margin. Paste the text for the header into it. Select the text. Use the Tables and borders text rotation button to rotate it. |
