Exclamation Large multi-layered display for genealogy

Is it possible to create a large, complex file that is larger than the screen in which all parts of it can be accessed by moving it - like what happens with a map? (I'm interested in creating a family tree with several branches.)

From the couple of times I've seen people doing this sort of thing, you might be better off using genealogy software that's designed to cope with family trees. I believe some of these programs include an option to output information to Word.

Thank you, eNGiNe - I am considering using a genealogy site program, but I thought it would be simpler if I could do it directly in WORD. Do you have a recommendation for the best site? GeneBW

I think the one my sister uses is FamilyTree Maker – does all the tricky stuff like drawing connectors, and gives a number of output options if you want to share the results as a word-processor file or a .pdf. Word isn't really intended as a full-screen layout program, which is the sort of thing I'd envisage for family-tree work. HTH.

Thank you very much. I'll explore Family Tree Maker. Right now I'm interested in getting a family tree done (although I know there is still a lot of research I need to do). Later I'll want to find a way to share what I've done with other family members and maybe even beyond that into the genealogy community. Grateful for your responses, Gene BW
