Hello,
My company has this working paper that is issued every 4 months. They like to have a blue bar on the side of the page for the introduction and a yellow one for the chapters. The problem is, when we write on the next page we would like the bar to be on the left, then on the right, and so on... What happens is that sometimes after we make a paragraph, the bar moves. The solution we found was to insert page breaks. But ideally, it would be easier to have like a template that knows that the introduction has blue bars on the right side of the even pages and left for odd.The same for the chapters with a yellow bar. I hope I was clear, it's a bit hard to explain... Thank you so much! Cat Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 09-05-2014 at 01:37 PM. Reason: Mark as solved |

There is no automatic way to do this.
You could include Frames as a part of a style definition. However they will not switch sides. Frames and Textboxes in Microsoft Word If you wanted the colored bars on the entire side of a page, this could be handled with even and odd headers/footers. Header/Footer Settings Recap |

Thanks a lot! I added the bars on headers//footers, created a section break to change colour, and it worked!
