( I must not be explaining my question properly, sorry ). as not really about restricting access ( Although it would probably be a bi-product ) rather about not having to change 100's of documents that all have the same data just because of an addition or a small change in data.

Perhaps its more like a static/modal inserted object/template. where as file/files have data in them that comes from another master file. when I change that master file all the child files that have that data in them also changes.
(Inheritances).
