Default pasting from excel to word maintaining word formatting

Trying to paste from Excel to Word but maintain the formatting within the table already in Word.

The tables in Word have specific text and number formatting (totals are bolded and coloured using the style functionality in Word) and no matter which paste option I select, even keep text only, it overwrites the style set and pastes the text from excel in as Normal text style. Help!

Try Paste Special > HTML. It won't retain the cell sizes, but the formatting should be the same.

Unless you paste on a cell-by-cell basis, you can't avoid overwriting the destination formatting unless everything in the destination is in a single format.
