Default autosave files

I opened up a document and it left a 162 bytes version of the word document with a

'~' before it.

I believe this is the auto-save.

However, it does not appear in the folder.

I burned a CD and copied the folder and noticed these files that started with a

~ were there.

Is there anyway to see them; I enabled 'hidden files'.

Also, is there anyway to get rid of them?

Files beginning with a “tilde” character are temporary files. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211632
You won’t be able to remove them from a CD unless it is a rewritable CD.
