.rtf being recognized as picture
I am opening a blank Word document. I am dragging an .rtf file onto the Document. When I do this, I am getting a blue border around the text and cannot edit it. If I double click within the blue border then I get a second window, where I can drag the text, but it is completely dependent on the first window.
I just want to bring in the .rtf file, make any necessary edits, and save the file back out as a .rtf file. I am not sure how or why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bob |

Probably Word takes the RTF file as an embedded object when you drag it, try opening the file by double-clicking it or 'File->Open...'.

Thanks so much for the help. I think that is exactly what is happening.

Rtf
Instead of dragging, I can think of three alternative routes.
One, is to open your .rtf doc in Word and save it as a .doc. Two, is to Select All in your .rtf doc, copy, and paste into a new Word doc. Third, is to open a new Word doc and Insert/Object/Text from file from your .rtf. (The old 2003 shortcut works, Alt+I,L.) Does this resolve your problem? |
