Default 2010 No spell check in numbered lists

I have searched through some of the forums here, and have gone to the mastering spell check document that I have seen recommended, but have not been able to find a solution. I design survey questionnaires and use the numbering function on most every document. However, even when I intentionally misspell a word "xjjasdfina" if it is in the numbered area, it won't be caught. I feel like I am just missing a toggle somewhere, but I have been through all of the option regarding proofreading and cannot find it. Is there a place with style or numbering I am missing?

Ultimately found a solution in another forum -- for others having this problem:

I am afraid I will have to do this to each document. If someone can tell me how to make this a part of the template to always cover numbered lists, please let me know.

This is not a matter of numbered lists. Numbered lists, by themselves do not change the spell check characteristics.

This is a matter of the styles you are using for the numbered lists, not the numberig per se. Do set up your numbering using the steps shown in How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly.

Existing documents will have to be cleansed in some way. Sorry.

Again, if you have numbering styles set up in a template and base your new documents on that template, those new documents should not be a problem.

By the way, I believe that "do not check spelling" was the default language formatting for form fields in older versions of Word.
