Default Spell check and grammar insists that a word should be capitalized, but it should not

I work in a lab that uses dewars constantly. A dewar is a light-tight, vacuum- and temperature-controlled container for doing sensitive scientific testing.

Now, dewar is not in the standard Word dictionary, so I added it the first time I saw the red squiggly line (spelling) under it. However, now it is replaced with a green squiggly line (grammar), and Word suggests that every instance of "dewar" should be "Dewar." It's not a proper noun, and I don't know how it got that idea.

I thought I may have added the capitalized version to the dictionary by coincidence (maybe it started a sentence). So, I went under the "File" tab, selected "Options", and then selected "Proofing" in the pop-up window. Then I clicked on the "Custom Dictionaries" button. I clicked on the "Edit Word List..." button in the pop-up window and found "dewar" and "dewars" in the list and deleted them.

I then went back to a working document, and found the familiar red squiggly line under "dewar" for spelling. This time I am sure it was lower case. When I right-clicked on the word, Word suggested "Dewar" as the correct spelling. I clicked on "Add to Dictionary" instead, but then the green squiggly line was still there. I right-clicked again, and Word was still insisting that it should be "Dewar".

Other words that I've added to the dictionary don't seem to have this uppercase/lowercase problem.

Please help! It's very annoying to constantly tell Word to ignore that particular instance of "grammar" every time the word comes up in 30+ page documents.
