I've been getting a pop-up issue on occasion while in Word. After saving a document and trying to exit Word, I receive a Warning box that reads "Changes made that affect global template, Normal.dotm. Do you want to save those changes?" I went to Help to find out what this was about and read to uncheck the prompt for saving changes to normal.dotm. I went into Word options but that box was already not checked! If I click on "No" to saving the global changes, another box appears that says "Saving auto recovery file is postponed for Normal.dotm".



I don't see these messages with every document written or saved - just occasionally. And when I do see them, the document frequently cannot be saved or if saved, cannot be opened. On rare occasions, the saved document cannot be sent as an attachment to an email. (I attach the doc to an email but it is not received on the other end!)

I hope someone can figure this out!!

That it only happens occasionally is unusual but not unheard of. The problems with opening the document are unusual.

Despite what "help" says, you should NOT uncheck the warning prompt. This is the equivalent to taking the batteries out of a smoke detector because it keeps buzzing. First, look for the cause of the smoke. You may want to turn off the detector while you look, but you don't leave it off.
