Keyboard language changes mysteriously

For the last few days every time I open a new MS Word page my keyboard suddenly changes into French. I have no idea what turned on this feature.

I have US extended, French, German, Hungarian, and Spanish keyboards installed, so I can readily change from one to the other. But my default is US.

Some years ago I suffered a disk crash in France and had the OS reinstalled there, so on reboot (and only on reboot) the system comes up with the French keyboard, but once I change it to US, it stays there till the next reboot.

I will appreciate any help. I have no idea where and what preferences the French setting can be changed. Thanks in advance!
