Comments bar disappears when I print

I want to print some pages with Track Changes and Comments showing. The comments appear on the screen but disappear when I print. And in the Review ribbon, the "Show Comments" option is grayed out. How do I get the comments to print?

Thanks,

JKlein

The Show Comments command in the Comments group on the Review tab will only be active if you have selected the "Simple Markup" option in the Display for Review drop down in the Tracking group.

"All Markup" is usually what you want for print, anyway. Use the settings at Show Markup | Show Balloons to control the display.

Do you see the comments in Print Preview (you can press Ctrl+F2)?

Thank you for responding, Stefan. My settings are already at Show Markup / Show Balloons. When I went back to the document the next day, the comments printed just fine. I'm still not sure what the issue was, but if it happens again, I'll try switching to Simple Markup.

Note that I'm not suggesting that you should make use of "Simple Markup." Usually one wants the additional information shown in "All Markup" view.

Since exiting and restarting Office worked, perhaps you inadvertently cleared the option (at File | Print) to print markup.
